Following a decade-long suspension of services to facilitate metro construction, the eastern square of the Chen Clan Academy opens in January 2025. Spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, the square offers convenient access via Guangzhou Metro Line 1 and Line 8 at the Chen Clan Academy Station.
The Chen Clan Academy, constructed in the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911), is renowned globally for its exquisite architecture and craftsmanship, and has been recognized as a national-level protected cultural heritage site. It is a valuable attraction for visitors to Guangzhou, particularly those making full use of the 240-hour visa-free transit policy to explore the city.
The eastern square of the Chen Clan Academy, with its eye-catching greenery and facilities infused with Lingnan elements, offers a free and pleasant leisure spot for both locals and tourists.
In spring, the square is graced by the blooming of yellow trumpet trees, creating a harmonious scene with the ancient buildings of the historical site.
Meanwhile, a pavilion and a corridor showcasing intangible cultural heritage are currently under construction and are scheduled for completion in March.
