Charlie Chaplin's classic silent comedy The Gold Rush is set to return to the big screen across China in a newly restored 4K version, with a new trailer and official poster released. The film is scheduled for re-release on July 25.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Gold Rush, a special centennial screening event was held nationwide on June 26, featuring over 100 showings. The film received overwhelming acclaim, earning praise as a 'must-watch introduction to cinema', and 'a true family classic' with audiences bursting into laughter throughout.

The Gold Rush is one of Chaplin's most acclaimed works, which has been included in IMDb's Top 250 list and boasts a high rating of 9.2 on the social media platform Douban. It was also named in Cahiers du Cinéma's Top 250 Films in Cinema History and 100 Most Beautiful Films of All Time.

Written, directed, and performed by Charlie Chaplin, the film follows the adventures of the iconic tramp, Charlot, as he journeys to Alaska during the gold rush. What unfolds is a series of hilarious and touching episodes involving gold-seeking misadventure, survival challenges, unexpected romance, and dreams of fortune.

Chaplin's brilliant creation and performance cemented the legendary status of The Gold Rush among audiences worldwide. The film remains a timeless classic in the history of cinema and an essential entry point for young viewers to discover the magic of film.

In The Gold Rush, Chaplin created the iconic image of a tramp with a bowler hat, a pair of oversized shoes, and a cane. 

The new 4K restoration of the film was carried out by the world-renowned Cineteca di Bologna and France's MK2 using materials from historical prints. Through ultra-high-definition scanning and digital restoration, the team preserved the original film's fine details, grayscale, and light-and-shadow texture. The re-release also features a newly remastered soundtrack, with Chaplin's original score rearranged by contemporary musicians.
